The procedure takes about 1.5 hour. During one treatment we can use from 3 to 6 leeches depending on the type of disease, advancement, patient’s age and body weight. After a painless bite, one can feel a slight burning sensation. A leech secretes therapeutic compounds into the blood vessels for 1 hour. If after that time it does not drop off, it will be removed and wound will be secured with a sterile dressing.
