
Combination of hirudotherapy and acupuncture gives great results in palliating pain conditions of the lower limbs. Leeches or “living needle” used on acupuncture points have better results than traditional acupuncture. Mechanism of acupuncture is strengthened by hirudosubstances with potent analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. These compounds enhance the effect of “living needles” and lead to quick start of recovery systems.
Acupuncture in the ST36 point called ‘the Great Legs Doctor’.
This is one of the common acupuncture points used to obtain overall restorative effect, e.g. in a strong physical and nervous exhaustion.
Stimulation of this point gives also regeneration and antihaemorrhage effect. For the Chinese it is called ‘the Great Legs Doctor’. In sport acupuncture used by runners, increasing efficiency of lower limb muscles. This point is also called ‘three-village point’. As the legend goes, this point was punctured by soldiers after the day’s march. After 15 minutes of stimulation, soldiers were able to continue to walk up to 20 km, which corresponds to a distance of three villages.
